Prayer for Leitrim Diaspora

We remember the people of Leitrim who emigrated from here during difficult times.
We pray for those who left our county and parish during famine times, never to see home again.
We remember our Leitrim family members and friends who departed in more recent times in search of a better life, and died abroad.
We pray also, for our young people who are still choosing the route of emigration.
We give thanks for the modern communications that have made it easier to stay connected to home.
On this weekend – we gather our Leitrim diaspora everywhere into our hearts and minds.

Prayer for Vocations

Loving God, you speak to us and nourish us through the life of this church community.
Lord, we ask you to send your Spirit to us so that men and women among us, young and old, will respond to your call to service and leadership in the Church.
We pray, especially, in our day, for those who hear your invitation to be a priest, sister, brother or deacon.
May those who are opening their hearts and minds to your call be encouraged and strengthened through our enthusiasm in your service.

Amen.

Jubilee Year Prayer:
Father in heaven, may the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom. May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally. May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven. May that same grace spread the joy and peace of our Redeemer throughout the earth. To you our God, eternally blessed, be glory and praise forever. Amen.
